Abstract

 

ARSTRACT

         

            The study of this thesis  had  3 objectives:  1) to study the history of  Significant  Female Lay Followers in  Theravada  Buddhism texts   2) to study the Dhamma Principles  for Significant  Female Lay Followers in  Theravada  Buddhism texts  3) to apply Dhamma Principles for Significant  Female Lay Followers in                   everyday life.               The research was used Documentary Method by gathering data from Tripitaka texts and their complementaries as well as related Buhhist texts, documents and related research works.

            The  study results revealed that ;

            1) the Significant  Female Lay Followers who were 10 master   in Theravada Buddhist  texts. Everyone has a differrent ethnic origin. Someone was born in the royal family and other ones  were  born in Brahmin family and other cates respectively. However, anyone who has faith in Theravada  Buddhism in different ways. Someone belived in other religions beforeand then later converted to Buddhism. But  everyone intented  strictly on practicing Buddhism

 

            2) Dhamma Principles which Significant  Female Lay Followers have been heard from different place, different action and different agendas. Some people have heard directly from the Buddha. Some people have heard from the followers of the Buddha.  Some people have heard only one time before enlightenment. But some people have been heard many times before enlightenment. Which is according to the circumstances of the individual and also depenced on faith in Buddhism as well.

            3) the application of Dhamma Principles which Significant  Female Lay Followers listened to   a daily basis could be devided in  to three levels : family, community and society. The family level was the basic principle to reach fairly high level. The community level is fairy advanced level with emphasis on how to live with others happily. The social level was  focusing on the love, unity and peace to the society,

            In summary, the enlightenment of   the Significant Female Lay Followers   in Theravada Buddhism was the most specialist in the sermons of the Buddha           

(Anupubbikatha).The graduated sermons( Anupubbikatha) discussed the nature of human beings after that the Buddha  would be thought the Four Noble  respectively.
