Abstract
The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the level of crime prevention and suppression at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Nakhon Sawan Province, 2) to compare the crime prevention and suppression at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Nakhon Sawan Province by classifying on the personal factors, and 3) to study the problems, obstacles and suggestions of the people for the participation in the crime prevention and suppression at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Nakhon Sawan Province.
This research applied the Mixed Methods Research consisting of the qualitative and quantitative research. The sample was 399 people living in the area of Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Nakhon Sawan Province. The tools of the research were questionnaire and in-Depth interview from the 9 key informants. The analysis of data used Statistical Package for Social Science. The statistics for analysis data used Frequencies, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test and F-test with One-way ANOVA and Least Significant Difference: LSD.
Results of the Research
1. Overall, the level of the crime prevention and suppression at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Nakhon Sawan Province was at the high level ( =3.42). When considering each aspect, it was found that the participation in the prevention and suppression to the family was at the highest level (= 3.50). Then, the participation in the prevention and suppression to the society was (= 3.40). However, the participation in the prevention and suppression to themselves was at the lowest level (= 3.37).
2. The comparison of the crime prevention and suppression at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Nakhon Sawan Province by classifying on the personal factors found that the people having the different gender, age, degree of education, occupation and income had no the different opinion to the participation of people in the crime prevention and suppression at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Nakhon Sawan Province. Therefore, the hypothesis was denied.
3. The problems and obstacles of the crime prevention and suppression at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Nakhon Sawan Province were that the police worked discontinuously, and had no the public relations. Moreover, the police were unfair in the working to the people. The people had no knowledge and capability in self prevention, and hardly cooperated with the police in identifying the suspects. The suggestions for the participation of people in the crime prevention and suppression at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Nakhon Sawan Province the police should watch and follow, and find the clue to prevent and suppress continuously. Moreover, the police should certificate the security to the witness and find the ways for the development in identifying the suspects. The people should be fair to the people, have the public relations about the knowledge in the crime prevention and suppression and provide the training in increasing the knowledge and capability to the people.
