Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study  has of 3 objective namely : (1) to study of the importance water in the rituals of Buddhism (2) to study of the importance water in the rituals of Christianity (3) to comparative study of the importance water in the rituals of Buddhism and Christianity. This study is a documentary one.

The Buddhist communities believing in Buddhism are of the beliefs that the water is important in carrying out the lives. The pressuring of the principles of teaching in Buddhism and the belief in the Buddhist cleanliness and the activities are regarded as the activities practiced centrally and the solitary characteristic which is important to the societies. (1) The water is the thing which is the co-operation to cause the people to be in harmony which will help the Buddhists to push Buddhism to remain up to 5000 years. (2) The water is the thing which helps the people’s minds to preserve the Thai existence and the cultures to help the later generation to practice further. (3) The water is the thing that cannot repealed. This point is compared with the farmers who cannot grow the plants without the water. So, the water is the importance material on the way of carrying out lives. (4) The water in any form, can be in co-operation with each other. So, the people must know how to improve themselves to be suitable for the residence and the environments. This point is compared with a person who is gentle and knows how to endures  the suffering. On the side of wisdom, a person should know everything according to fact.

In Christianity, it is regarded that the water in the ceremonies is important to the human beings, according to the ancient people’s view points about the world. The water is the origin of everything to work for God’s consciousness which helps human beings conscious of happiness. So, the water is of wide relationship with the life, the death and the new birth.
