An Educational Administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani Province

Abstract

Abstract

           The three main objectives of this research are 1) to study the educational administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani Province, 2) to compare the monks’ and novices’ opinion of the educational administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani Province, being divided as an individual status, 3) to study problems, obstacles and suggestions of those who have answered the questionnaire and interview of educational administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani Province. This is a mixed research which is mixed among quantitative research and qualitative research. On the field study, the data are collected from 94 monks and novices who are administrators, teachers and the students of  Phrapariyattidhamma schools, Pali Section, Suratthani province, by applying the questionnaire of open ending and closed ending. The derived data are analyzed to find out the value of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. Testing the hypothesis is made by t-test, F-test and One Way Analysis of Variance. After finding the difference, comparing the difference of mean in pair is made by the way of Scheffe. If the difference is not found, finding out the difference in pair by the way of Least Significant Difference; LSD will be made, and the qualitative research is to analyze the documents and interview.

 

             On the result of research, it is found that;

 

             1. the monks’ and novices’ ideas of the educational administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani Province, in 5 aspects; aspect of curriculum, aspect of learning and teaching management, aspect of educational media, aspect of educational activities and aspect of measurement and assessment, in whole, are at the medium level 3.45. Considering as an aspect, it is found that monks’ and novices’ ideas of the educational administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani Province in the aspect of curriculum, educational media and educational activity are at the medium level, but in the aspect of learning and teaching management and in the aspect of measurement and assessment, their ideas are at the higher level.  The highest mean that equals 3.92 is in the aspect of learning and teaching management and the lowest mean that equals 3.06 is in the aspect of educational media.

             2. On the result of comparing monks’ and novices’ ideas of the educational administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani Province, being divided as an individual status, with hypothesis test made by analyzing the difference between variables ;- status, position/duty, age, rains-retreat/ year of ordination, general educational qualification and religious study qualification, it is found that the ideas of the educational administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani Province of monks and novices who answer the questionnaire and whose individual status is different in the aspect of position/duty, general educational qualification and religious educational qualification, are not different with statistical significance at 0.05, it is negative to the hypothesis set up. The difference of individual status, in the aspect of age and rains-retreat/ years of ordination, of monks and novices who answer the questionnaire, makes the ideas of the educational administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani different with statistical significance at 0.05, it is acceptable to the hypothesis set up.

             3. The suggestions of the educational administration of Phrapariyattidhamma Pali Section in Suratthani are 1) in the aspect of curriculum, the curriculum of Phrapariyattidhamma, Pali Section should be improved, especially in the aspect of  substance, 2) in the aspect of learning and teaching management, the importance should be given to students and teachers fully, the style of learning and teaching should be improved to make it interesting, to attract students to pay more joining emotion in learning, it should be supported with enough budget and training for increasing the teachers’ skills should be held,  3) in the aspect of educational media, the modern educational media should be supplied sufficiently, supporting those who are possessing the knowledge and ability to produce more educational media of the subjects in this division should be done, training the teachers in order to know and understand how to apply the educational media beneficially, the budget for educational media should be allocated sufficiently, 4) in the aspect of educational activity, the educational activity should be held in order to motivate students in considering the importance of learning, the activities supporting students’ courage of showing fully and those supporting relationship between students and community should be held additionally, 5) in the aspect of measurement and assessment, the measurement and assessment of the royal exam should be adjusted in order to be more suitable for the present conditions.
