An Analysis of Teaching Principle on Self-development in Buddhist Scripture

Abstract

 The objectives of this study were aimed at 1) studying the teaching principle on self-development in Buddhist Scripture, and 2) analyzing the teaching principle on self-development in Buddhist Scripture. The researcher conducted the study by collecting data from Tripitaka in Thai version of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, books, articles, researches, and online documents involved self-development. The study was a qualitative research with Content Analysis.

                 The result of the study was found that the teaching principle in self-development in Buddhist Scripture was about Bhāvanā focused on teaching people in being enthusiastic to all self-changing in good and lasting way. In so doing, it was to follow four parts: 1) physical development, focused on mind and soul which was the nerve to receive exterior things with behavior; 2) social development, focused on living together without physical and speech wickedness; 3) temperature development, focused on training the mind since it was a temperature perceive; 4) intellect development, focused on knowing what everything’s truth in the world was.
