Abstract

 This dissertation entitled ‘The Buddhist Integrative ways to Conserve and Promote Thai songdum Culture in Thakham Phunpin Surat Thani Province’ has three objectives: (1) to study the way of life and culture of Thai Song Dam’s in Thakham Punpin Suratthani Province, (2) to study of Dhamma Principles on Thai Song Dam’s conservation and promotion culture in Thakham Punpin Surat thani Province, and (3) to propose the conservation and promotion of the culture of Thai Song Dam Tha Kham, Phunphin, Surat Thani. This is a qualitative research.

Results of the Research were found:

Thais Song Dam in Tha Kham, Phunphin, Surat Thani are Immigrants from Phetchaburi and southern of Pak Tho Ratchaburi Province, they occupied the area in Tha Kham, Phunphin, Surat Thani during World War II, they were strong and outstanding community in the field of conservation and promotion of the most visible culture of life in terms of dressing culture, language and communication, belief culture, all rituals are always observed as they believed that "Ghost" came into being since ancestors, ghost houses, ghost farms, ghosts as they hold that ghost worship is correct. It would bring happiness and prosperity, and on the contrary, if it is ignored, not following the faith, it would  bring suffering and bad to life.

The principles of Dharma relating to the conservation and promotion of the culture of Thai Song Dam in Tha Kham, Phunphin, Surat Thani are of : 1) Principle of four bases of social solidarity, 2) Principle of six directions, 3) Principles of Ghãrava, 4) Principles of gratitude, 5) Principle of Sãrãniyadhamma and 6) Principle of seven types of Sappurisadhamma.

The conservation and promotion of Thai Song Dam’s culture are: (1) family training, (2) family relationship building, (3) generation-to-generation education, Cultural Heritage, (5) Promotion of Cultural Activities and Local Wisdom, (6) Exchange of Exchanges, and (7) Strengthening of Local Philosophers.
