Abstract

The aims of this research were: 1) to study the contexts and problematic conditions of life insurance service in Kalasin province; 2) to study the concepts and principles of Sangahavatthu dhammas IV (saṅgahavatthu, bases of social solidarity) in relation to the aforesaid service; 3) to study the application of four Sangahavatthus in life insurance service in Kalasin province. This study was a documentary research conducted by the study of texts, scriptures, Buddhist academic works and relevant research together with the use of in-depth interview of three groups of six targeted samples. The data were interpreted by the descriptive analysis based on the deductive method.

The research results revealed that the problem of service of life insurance companies in Kalasin province is that insurance agents lack the willingness to provide services, to give advice clear knowledge. Some cannot impress customers by their speech or providing an inconsistent service. The principle of Sangahavatthu dhammas IV is related to service in terms of giving opportunities, time and give good advice to those who come to receive life insurance services. The soft and gentle talk creates happiness and feeling security in life to the customers. Providing a good service is considered as a blessing for others. When good thinking, speaking well and good acting are built for those who have already received the service, the agents must consistently provide good and consistent services.

Sangahavatthu dhammas IV were adapted to service in 4 areas: 1) life insurance agents are sincere in being a true giver seeing the benefits of customers as important with a good service mind: 2) the agents are good negotiators who know how to use the melodious words to make the impression and maximize the benefit of the service recipient; 3) the agents must sacrifice their own happiness for others and 4) the agents must see the customers as the most important person by providing a consistent and good service, being able to give advice to customers in a timely manner, being able to create love, warmth, generosity, support to each other with a pure heart. The target groups that are successful in providing life insurance services, Sangahavatthu principles are applied in different contexts in each group of people.
