Emotional Stamina Model of Mindfulness on Death Coping of Aging on the Virtual World

Abstract

            This Research of Emotional Stamina Model of Mindfulness on Death Coping of Aging on the Virtual World aimed 1) to study the relationship between the general characteristics of Aging and the Digital Living Will, 2) to study the relationship between the general characteristics of Aging and the Emotional Stamina Model of Mindfulness on Death Coping and 3) to build the Emotional Stamina Model of Mindfulness on Death Coping of Aging. This quantitative research design is cross-sectional descriptive survey research. The data collection instrument was Questionnaire through Google survey online. The reliability of this instrument of overall 33 items was 0.873. The sample consisted of 225 case with 50 years old by age.  The results are as follows;

            1. Aging who living on virtual worlds used the smartphone 90.7%, followed by desktop computer was 48.9%, mobile computer was 28.9% and tablet was 24.9%. The largest online communication channel through the line was 80.0 %, followed by Google, Facebook, YouTube, e-mail, Instagram, Twitter, and Blog 72.9, 69.3, 53.3, 50.2, 12.0, 3.6, 3.1, and 0.9 % respectively.
           2. Most Aging know about The National Health Act,2008 (Article 12, Living Will) funded (54.2 %), prepare to make Living Will (72.0 %), refuse to use the respirator (93.8%), wanted to donate body or organs after death (69.8%) and wanted to die at home (53.8%).

          3. 73.3% of the Aging had Attitude of Living Will in good and 77.0% of them had Emotional Stamina of Mindfulness on Death Coping in good level.

          4. Attitude of Living Will was related to gender, occupation, income and marital status with statistical significance at the 0.01 level.

         5. Emotional Stamina of Mindfulness on Death Coping  of the Aging in good was related to education, income, marital status, family members, recognizing in The National Health Act, 2008( Article 12, Living Will); Living Will  and  places of death with statistical significance at the 0.01 level.

Emotional Stamina Model of Mindfulness on Death Coping of Aging on the Virtual World (Multiple Logistic regression) was used 14 independent variables. It had the power to forecast accuracy at 38.5 % at the 95 % confidence level. Using the Odds Ratio (OR) was compared the reference value in each variable.

           6.1 Attitudes of living will in good level will increase an emotional stamina at  7.1 times that of the fair level.
           6.2 Female will increase an Emotional stamina of females will increase at 1.4 times of male.
           6.3 Increasing Age will decrease an emotional stamina; at age 55-60 years old will increase  at 2.9 times and age 55-60 years old will increase  at 1.6 times; (Baseline is more 60 years).
           6.4 High education level will increase an emotional stamina; Emotional stamina of the Aging with Master/ Doctoral degree will increase at 1.6 times, On the other hand, the Aging with Bachelor's Degree will decrease at 53%; (Baseline is lower Bachelor's Degree).
           6.5 Occupation of Private Business/Commerce/Farmer will increase an emotional stamina at 1.3 times while Government/State Enterprises will increase an emotional stamina at 2.4 times ;(Baseline is general employee).
           6.6 High Income
will increase an emotional stamina; the Aging with 9,000 20,000 baht/month will increase at 3.1 times while the Aging with Higher 20,000 baht/month will increase at 4.8 times; (Baseline is lower 9,000 baht/month).
           6.7 Single Marital status will increase an emotional stamina at 1.2 times in the Aging while Widow/Divorced will increase an emotional stamina at 9.6 times; (Baseline is couple).
          6.8 Living of Family Household will increase an emotional stamina at 7.4 times while Relatives / friends will increase an emotional stamina at 17.6 times in the Aging; (Baseline is alone).
          6.9 Practicing Vipassana meditation continuously for 7 days will increase an emotional stamina at 2.2 times of the Aging without Practice.
          6.10 Recognizing of The National Health Act 2008 (Article 12, Living Will) will increase an emotional stamina at 1.7 times that of the Aging never recognizing.
          6.11 Attitude of preparing make Living Will increase an emotional stamina at 2.5 times that of without preparing.
          6.12 Attitude of using the respirator on Palliative care will increase an emotional stamina at 1.3 times that of without using.
          6.13 Attitude of donation body or organs will increase an emotional stamina at 1.3 times that of without donation.
          6.14 Attitude of dead at home will increase an emotional stamina at 1.3 times that of willing to die at hospital.

           Based on this research, it was found that the Emotional Stamina Model of Mindfulness on Death Coping of Aging on the Virtual World built by the researcher could apply to forecast the score of Emotional Stamina of Mindfulness on Death Coping of Aging on the Virtual World, Statistically significant at 0.05.
