Development of Model for Coaching in Business Organization Based on Buddhist Psychology

Abstract

This study was qualitative research in nature with the following objectives 1) To study the general condition of coaches in business organizations 2) to develop a coaching model in business organizations in accordance with Buddhist psychology 3) to examine the pattern of coaching in business organizations in accordance with Buddhist psychology. The researcher collected data from Tripitaka, commentary, academic texts, documents and related research. Including in-depth interviews with 5 experts coaches for study the general condition of coaches in business organizations and present a coaching model in business organizations according to Buddhist psychologyAfter that Focus Group Discussion with 11 experts coaches to develop a model of business coaching in Buddhist psychology and then check the validity and proper with Focus Group Discussion with the 6 experts coaches that have been recognized in the field of education and Buddhist religion. Before applying to improve the format of the coach to be appropriate, which results can be summarized as follows:

            Current coaching in business organizations is commonly used in the GROW model. Starting with Goal or goal setting for coaching, Reality or finding reality, Options or finding alternatives in achieving goals and Way Forward or summary of the action plan. Goal of coaching are both personal and organizational goals and using the "Insight Loop" which includes the process. In which the coach must notify the coachee to request Permission for the coaching and then begin with Placement, Questioning and Clarifying respectively. The coach must follow the principles and ethics of the coach. Have confidence in the potential of the coachee. Do not force or submit advice to coachee to do what comes from the coach's own thoughts and reasons. And the coachee must be a person who is ready to accept the coaching, has interest and believes in self-change, self-awareness and must have trust in coach and coaching process as well.

            For the coach model in business organizations according to Buddhist psychology (COACHING model), there are 4 steps to coach the process 1) Own goals 2) Find the truth 3) Choices 4) The right way. There are 8 processes for Coach and Coachee : 1) Confidence 2) One's Own Welfare 3) Awareness 4) Critical Reflection 5) Hear from Others 6) Insight 7) Noble Eightfold Path 8) Golden Mean.

            Important knowledge gained from research on the model of coaching in business organizations according to this Buddhist psychology are 1) Coaching model in business organizations based on Buddhist psychology (COACHING model) which presents the 8 processes of those who are Coach and Coachee which is located on the basis of being a good friend, is Paratoghosa of the coach and Yonisomanasikara that occurs within the inside of the Coachee. And 2)The process of coaching in business organizations according to Buddhist psychology 4 steps are 1) Own goals 2) Find the truth 3) Choices 4) The right way.
