A Accomplishment of the Meditation Practice Project of the Students in Bachelor of Arts Program Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Surin Campus in Academic Year 2558 B.E.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study current conditions, success, and guidelines for  developing  the Vipassana Meditation Practice Project under the Bachelor of Arts Program in Buddhism, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Surin Campus. The methodology was conducted by exploring related documents, observations, inquiries, and interviews. The research instruments were observation form, questionnaire and interview. Data were analyzed by descriptive data analysis. The results of this research indicated that current conditions of the Vipassana Meditation Practice Project under the Bachelor of Arts Program in Buddhism, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Surin Campus contained steps and processes in accordance with Satipatthana 4 doctrine. Location and buildings were available with sufficient amount of toilets. Time was appropriate.  Vipassana meditation master was friendly and had knowledge and understanding of the Vipassana Meditation Practice. The project was managed by planning, organizing, and managing personnel.  Regulation and supervision were conducted to be consistent to the regulations on the Vipassana Meditation Practice specified by the university.

In terms of the project’s success, the sample students had a very high level of the satisfaction with the Vipassana Meditation Practice Project in terms of supporting factor.  For the results from participating in the Vipassana Meditation Practice, this project could enhance students’ faith in Buddhism at the highest level.

          The guidelines for developing  the Vipassana Meditation Practice Project included 1) for location,  students with different  ages should be classified based on seniority  in the mediation practice place to increase tier awareness of respect and harmony. The place should be clean, far from toiler and bathroom. The participants should be stay in proper distance to prevent talking, noise to disturb others. 2) for personnel, the regulations on the Vipassana Meditation Practice specified by the university should be notified so that every party will be understand about how to supervise and regulate students according to the university’s regulations. 3) for knowledge and understanding of Vipassana Meditation Practice, Buddhism courses taught at the classroom shall be instructed for students’ understandings, especially, Vipassana Meditation Practice according to Satipatthana 4 doctrine so that students can have good fundamental knowledge and apply the knowledge for the real practices.
