Abstract

The objectives of this research paper were (1) to study moral and ethical development for children and youth of monks in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province, (2) to compare the opinion toward moral and ethical development for children and youth of monks in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province, classified by personal data, and (3) to study the problem, obstacle and suggestion for moral and ethical development for children and youth of monks in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province. The research methodology was the mixed method research, that the quantitative research used the questionnaire as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 278 students in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province. The statistics were used for the data analysis through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), t-test, F-test, One-way Analysis of Variance. And the qualitative research had the documentary analysis and interview as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 12 key informants and analyzed the data through the content analysis technique.

             The findings of this research were as following :

             1. Moral and ethical development for children and youth of monks in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province, Overall was found in high level with average at mean of 3.49, when considering in each aspect found that in high level all aspects. The ethical of the model aspect, high level at mean of 3.77 was instructor aspect, high level at mean of 3.94. The mindfulness warmer aspect, high level at mean of 4.32. The moral training aspect, high level at mean of 4.01 and public mind creation aspect, high level at mean of 3.64.

             2. The comparison for opinions of the students toward moral and ethical development for children and youths of monks in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province, classified by personal data, found that personal factors of students like sex, age, education level, and grade had the effects to the opinions to moral and ethical development for children and youth of monks in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province were not different. The hypothesis was rejected.

             3. The the problem, obstacle and suggestion for moral and ethical development for children and youth of monks in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province, as following: The ethical model aspect; the monks should be lay people done in the quest in not places for the traffic, and the monk should be recommended to the youths know the facts about the monk scandal news in some media as a personal act, not an act of Buddhist majority monks. Instructor aspect; the monks should update the model and teaching methods to suit the ages and inspire the youth, should create a channel for the opportunity to teach a limited period of time. Mindfulness warmer aspect; the monks should assess the risk and to admonish the youth of defense trouble and create a network for monitoring the behavior of youth with the participation of young people themselves, should take the form of a call to action rather than follow dictation. The moral training aspect; the monks should create a network between those involved with youth in a systematic manner, should be the activities covered by the youth in all levels. Create public mind aspect; should support social service activities like volunteering to instill in young people a social consciousness, should be networking with civil society by organizing activities with other schools.
