Abstract

This research aimed to study problems and guidelines to solve the work of monks who taught morals in schools, Sisaket Province. The study focused on four problems such as curriculum, instructional activities, teaching aids, evaluation and assessment.

 

             The research was divided into two stages. Firstly, it was a work survey of monks who taught morals in schools, Sisaket Province. Sample consisted of 205 monks who taught morals in schools, Sisaket Province in the academic year 2009. The instruments employed in data collection were 54 items of rating scale questionnaires. Statistics utilized in data analysis were distribution of frequency, percentage, mean ( ), standard deviation (S.D), and t-test. Secondly, it involved seeking solutions to the work of monks who taught morals in schools, Sisaket Province. Samples consisted of 7 monks or persons who were experienced in the work of monks who taught morals in schools. Instruments employed in data analysis comprised questionnaires related to the problem solution of monks who taught moral in school derived from stage 1 through the content analysis process.

 

 

          The results were found as follows:

          1. The work problems of monks who taught morals in schools, Sisaket Province were average both in overall and each side results. The highest mean was instructional aids application followed by the curriculum, the evaluation and assessment respectively. While the lowest mean was instructional activities organization.

          2. A Comparative The work problems of monks who taught morals in schools, Sisaket Province The results were found as follows: The work problems of monks who taught morals less than five years and more than five years showed a statistically significant difference at .05 level with overall and each side results. The monks with less than bachelor degree and higher than the bachelor degree education who taught morals encountered the same problems with statistically significance at .05 level with overall and each side results. The monks as administrators and common monks encountered the same problems with statistically significance at .05 level with overall and each side results. The monks with less than  and more than five year experience of teaching encountered the same problems with statistically significance at .05 level with overall and each side results.

          3. Guidelines to solve the work of monks who taught morals in schools were as follows:  Guidelines to solve the curriculum problems: the authority should set up the seminar about the curriculum including inviting the curriculum experts to select contents proper to each level. The seminar about the content of curriculum between monks and organizations should be set up.  Guidelines to solve the instructional problems: the authority can increase the competency of moral monks by setting up the seminar and inviting experts to inform monks about skills of teaching morals. Guidelines to solve the teaching aids problems: the local teaching aids from the television, in the temple, in the village, or examples of persons in the local should be applied. The project asking for the budget support from the school or organization related or the Papa project for teaching aids budget should be initiated. Besides, the monks themselves should produce teaching aids materials from the natural materials in the local.  Guidelines to solve the evaluation and assessment problems:  the authority should set up the evaluation and assessment seminar focusing on practice in accordance with learning contents, and learning process. The monk should evaluate students’ learning behavior, and joining  activities. Network creation, workshop for a real practice in the evaluation and assessment process, and applying the results of evaluation and assessment to improve instructional activities for the benefit of the education should be initiated.
