The Study of The Roles Played by The Buddhism Protecting Centre of Thailand on The Propagating and The Protecting of Buddhism 2011

Abstract

This research is to study the roles played the Buddhism Protecting Centre.  The purpose of this research is:- 1) to study the roles about the spread and the protecting of Buddhism in the Buddhist Scriptures, 2) to study the spread and the protecting of Buddhism by the Buddhism Protecting Centre of Thailand, 3) to study the factors, the limitation and the ways to solve the problems.

                  The researcher has collected the data from the Buddhist scriptures and the related documents. The researcher also collected the data from deep interviews. From the study, it in found that.

                  1)   In Buddhist Scriptures, there are some data showing that the Buddha, as the teacher who established Buddhism and taught the Dhamma to the Buddhists who have intention to protect Buddhism stably. The Buddha has the methods to spread and protect Buddhism. When there was a person who asked Him some questions, He answered differently according to such questions. He also used some miracles in some cases, but the admired the Anusāsanī Miracle. The fact that the Dhammcakkappa-vattana Sutta preached by Him to the Pañcavaggiya Monks is the starting of His work of spreading Buddhism in the middle of other creeds which are deep in the ways of lives and societies at that time. The Buddha went to different lands to preach the Doctrines to the educable beings. After the Buddha’s passing away, the Buddhists have protected Buddhism very well. The roles played by the disciples are brought for study at this time are Ven. Ananuda, Ven. Moggallāna, and Ven. Sārīputta both of whom spread Buddhism strongly and heartfully.

                  2)   The Buddhism Protecting Centre is of the roles in supporting and protecting Buddhism, coordinating with the Buddhist Organizations, spreading Buddhism, Communicating with people, supporting the Sanga’s activities, supporting the Buddhists, being the representatives of the Buddhist people and supporting its own activities.

                  3)   From the study of the factors associated with success limitation and solutions of the Protecting of Buddhism in Thailand  it is found that:-

                        3.1    The factors relating to the success of the Buddhism Protecting Centre are as follows: (1) the factor about the personals of this centre is that it pays strong attention to work for Buddhism. (2) The social factor is that it pay strong attention to work for Buddhism; so the members of the centre have good wishes to work for Buddhism as the social funs in carrying out their works. (3) The factor in using the media by Buddhism Protecting Centre, is of a significant point in approaching the public in many ways quickly and in updating. These factors help the works of the centre to go to the success.

                        3.2    The limitation of the Buddhism Protecting Centre is, however, of 2 points: namely (1) The limitation about the state of the personnel, owing to the fact that the centre has both the monks and the lay people who have different ways of life and the administration of the centre is difficult, because the laymen respect the monks. (2) the limitation about the money of the centre is that the centre has uncertain amount of money depending on the people’s faith. Thus, the administration of the centre is not in activity.

                        3.3       The way to solve such the problem is that the centre has managed in the following ways:- (1) the arrangement of the project of protecting Buddhism for both the lay people and the monks to have enough personnel (2) Regarding the limitation of money, the centre set up the protect of collecting the funs by the arrangement of harmonious Phāpā Samuggī and the opening of the way for the people to donate their money to set up the fund.
